Life Events and Childhood Brain Development

The primary purpose of this research study is to understand how life events may influence childhood brain development.  Sexual abuse may have a significant influence  on childhood development.  Sexually abused children may experience behavioral and emotional problems, such as symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  One of the important objectives of this study is to understand why some children who are sexually abused suffer from PTSD while others do not.
