Studies Currently Enrolling Subjects:

 

1) Title:  Insomnia Diagnostic Study

    Target Population:  Adults with difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep

    Treatment:  None

    Payment for Study Completion:  $400.

 Trouble Sleeping?

If you are an adult who has difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, you may qualify for participation in a research study in the Duke Insomnia and Sleep Research Program.  This study requires eight visits to Duke University Medical Center, two of which are overnight stays.  The study will provide an evaluation of your sleep problem.  You will be paid $400 upon completion of the research study.  For more information, please contact Faye Knauss, Psy.D. at (919) 681-0935. 

2)  Title:  Treatment of Insomnia in Patients with HIV Infection

     Target Population:  HIV positive individuals with difficulty falling or staying asleep

     Treatment:  One of two prescription sleeping medications or placebo

     Payment for Study Completion:  $200.

3)  Title:  Treatment of Insomnia Occurring with Chronic Low Back Pain

    Target Population:  Individuals with low back pain who have trouble falling or staying asleep.   

    Treatment:  A prescription sleeping medications or placebo along with the over-the-counter pain

                      medication naproxen.

    Payment for Study Completion:  $200.
