Behavioral Cardiology Research
Laboratory
The majority of clinical research
in behavioral physiology is conducted in our laboratory, which is located
in Duke South Hospital on the fourth floor. The laboratory consists
of two testing labs where the effects of mental stress on human physiology
are studied. In addition to the main laboratory, there is a vascular
diagnostic laboratory, an ambulatory blood pressure monitoring facility,
and a nueropsychological test laboratory. This program is currently
conducting several research projects.
Center for Living
Situated west of the Duke campus, the Center for Living campus houses
the clinic and fitness buildings where exercise testing and training are
performed. The clinic building houses the exercise testing
laboratory where stress testing is performed to assess aerobic and
cardiovascular status of research participants.
The fitness center houses the
exercise facilities where many of our research participants undergo
several weeks of aerobic training. This state-of-the-art exercise
facility contains many different pieces of exercise equipment giving our
research participants a wide variety of exercise choices.
