The Partnership for Excellence in Mental Health Interventions Education and Research (PREMIER) program  provides training for qualified minority applicants who seek to become academic mental health interventions researchers. Trainees will be at the doctoral level, primarily post-residency psychiatrists and post-doctoral psychologists, but other doctoral level minorities may also apply, including those who with a D.S.W., D.O., or Pharm.D. 

The PREMIER program offers comprehensive training in mental health interventions research, with experiences 
with child, adult and geriatric populations, and interventions that include pharmacological and behavioral clinical 
trials, and health services and substance abuse research. At the end of the program, trainees will receive a 
Master's degree and will be well positioned to assume junior faculty positions in academic departments around 
the country.

Stipends
Stipends are set by the National Institutes of Health. They vary dependent on the trainee's number of years of post-doctoral experience at the beginning of the training period. The current list of stipend amounts is taken from the most recent NIH statement on stipends for fiscal year 2007.
